out of the mouths of babes

The other day at school I was trying to fix one of my little girls hair. I kept putting the clip in her hair, but it kept falling out. After trying to fix it 3 or 4 times I finally apologized and said, "I'm not very good at fixing little girl's hair because I don't have a little daughter.

Here's how the rest of the conversation went.....

Little Boy: You don't have a daughter??
Me: No.
Little Boy: But what about your son.
Me: I don't have a son.
Little Boy: You mean your don't have any kids.
Me: No, we don't have any kids yet.
Little Boy: Then why are you "maweed". (married)
Me: Well you get married first and then you have kids later.
Little Boy: Well does your Daddy have a kid.
Me: I am my Daddy's daughter.
Little Boy: No your Daddy.....Mr. Matt.
Me: Oh, Mr. Matt is my husband, not my Daddy! He doesn't have any kids either.
Little Boy: Well when are you going to "get a kid"

Another little girl enters the conversation

Little Girl: Mrs. Link will get a baby when God puts a seed in her tummy.
Little Boy: A seed??
Little Girl: Ya, the seed will grow into a baby.
Little Boy: Mrs. Link, if you eat a watermelon seed, will a watermelon grow in your tummy?
Me: No, Sweetie it doesn't really work that way!

There really is never a dull moment in my classroom.

I wish I could just hop into one of my kiddos brains. It just cracks me up how their brains think.

I had a really similar conversation the other day and it was about me having babis. They wanted to know where my babies were and I said wll God has not put them there yet, then they said well where are they then we talked about that i wasn't married yet. The best part was this one little girl said well I pray for you and Ms. Sarah because you don't have anyone to play with!! HAhhaha the way they think cracks me up
