easter goodies

Growing up the I never really knew who the Easter Bunny was. My parents gave us an Easter basket, not the Easter Bunny.  And my parents (or grandparents) hid the eggs, not the Easter Bunny. So needless to say I don't really get the Easter Bunny, and I don't feel the need to introduce him (or her?) to Pearson.  I have to be honest, I think the Easter Bunny at the mall is a little bit creepy.   If I were a kid, I would definitely be screaming if my parents threw me in his lap!!  Anyways, all this to say, we won't be "doing" the Easter bunny, but we will still participate in fun little Easter traditions like Easter egg hunts, Easter Baskets, and a new Easter outfit.  However, those things won't be our focus.  I definitely want to teach Pearson that Easter is not all about the Egg Hunts, Peeps, & Chocolate bunnies.  I want to teach him that we celebrate Easter because of what Jesus did for us.  Through his death, burial and resurrection, Jesus paid the penalty of sin, thus purchasing for all those who believe in him eternal life with him in Heaven.   We want him to know the true meaning of Easter while still doing fun little things that we did growing up!

I had so much fun filling Pearson's Easter basket this year.
My Mom always put a chocolate bunny (white chocolate for me), some of our favorite snacks, a few little trinkets, and usually one or two big things in our Easter basket.  The big thing was usually something that they were going to have to buy us anyways, like a new baseball glove, new cleats or new spring sandals.  I tried to do the same with Pearson's basket.  I got him mostly things I was already needing or wanting to buy him.
I went with a cheap little basket from Michael's that was 50% off.  I thought about getting one from Pottery Barn but didn't want to spend the money.  I figured Pearson will probably never care about the actual basket, so I'll just spend the money on what goes in the basket!  I got the cute little printable Easter tag here.
In his basket.....
1. Simple First Words- Let's Sign book (Half Price Books) 2. Baby Einstein First Words book  (Buy Buy Baby) 3. Baby Einstein: Look at Me! Mirror Discovery Cards (Divine Consign) 4. My Little Bible Board Book (Mardel) 5.  Baby Crocs (Buy Buy Baby)
 6.  Puff & Yogurt Melts (Target) 7.  Nuby Straw Sippy Cup (Buy Buy Baby) 8. Little Cars (Dollar Tree)  9. Bubbles (Dollar Tree)
I've been pinning a few ideas that I'd love to do with Pearson in the years to come, so I thought I would share.

Here's a few.....

Happy Easter!!

  2. I think the mall Easter Bunnys are kinda creepy looking too. Something about those big creepy plastic eyes kinda freaks me out. We took Naomi to a local egg hunt today and I have a very small easter basket for her (filled with stuff from the dollar spot at Target - though now I think I may have to toss in a pkg of yogurt melts since you mentioned them). Pearson's basket is super cute!

  5. Pearson's daddy was always afraid of the mall Easter bunny when he was little. We would have stay as far away as possible from that scary bunny while Matt clung to me for dear life during Easter time at the mall.
