I can barely remember Thursday. After being up for 24 hours, it was all a blur. We were so confused on what day it was. We didn't get into our room until around 4:30am. I couldn't get out of bed because I still had my epidural. (with a C-section you can keep your epidural for 24 hours after the birth) Pearson was really squirmy and kept making noises. We couldn't go to sleep and we didn't really know what to do with him! Ha!! I asked Matt if I would be a bad Mom if we sent him to the nursery until morning. He assured me I wouldn't be because I needed my rest. We sent him off at about 6am and they brought him back to nurse at 9am.
Matt did all the diaper changing on Thursday. I didn't change a diaper the entire day. In fact I didn't get out of bed until around 4pm when they took my epidural and catheter out. I was on a liquid diet and semi liquid diet all morning so I had Jello for breakfast and oatmeal and pudding for lunch!
My Mom came up and stayed with me from about 1-5 while Matt went home, showered and took a nap in our comfy bed. Around 4pm the nurse took out my epidural and my catheter. I was dreading getting out my catheter because that meant I would have to get out of bed, but it wasn't that bad. I was pleasantly surprised at how much longer I could hold my bladder since I wasn't pregnant anymore. There wasn't a little guy sitting on top of my bladder anymore making me go every hour!!
Pearson loved his snuggles with Lolly while she visited us.
He was so content hanging out with her while I napped.
While Matt was gone, my friend Brittany and my Mom's friend Sandy visited us, but I forgot to take pictures of them. Like I said.....Thursday was a blur. When Matt came back, he brought me the most delicious Potato Soup from Baker's Brother's. Soooooo good!!
Thursday evening they brought us a swaddle blanket and Pearson was definitely a fan.
He got all swaddled up and fell fast asleep.
I put a little hat on him that one of my students gave me. It looked so tiny at home, but it swallowed him. My dad said he looked like the little Travelocity gnome!!
Late that evening Ryan, Ashley & Carson came to visit us. Carson was so sweet with Pearson. He's going to be a great cousin and a super big brother when his little sister, Olivia, gets here in a few weeks.
After all of our visitor left, Matt and I took Pearson for a little stroll around the maternity ward. It took us quite a while because I was SLOW MOVING, but I knew I needed to get out of bed so the healing process could begin. The nurse told me that I needed to take a walk three times a day.
We decided to send Pearson to the nursery again tonight to get a good 3 hr stretch of sleep. Smartest thing we did. We both felt rested in the morning because of our extra rest!!
