fall festival

Wednesday night our church had our Annual Fall Festival.

This years the theme was "Once Upon a Time".  We were supposed to bring a children's storybook to life!!
As you can see, our class chose
The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
**The head on our poster is actually our executive pastor!! We thought it would be funny to play a little joke on him.  Unfortunately he wasn't even there.  Our Senior Pastor texted a picture to him though!!

We both thought this was the best part of our booth.  The church staff got a pretty good laugh out of it too!!
We had just about every character represented at our booth.
Matt and I were The Yellow Brick Road and Dorothy.
Alicia was the TinWoman and Ray was the Scarecrow.
Eric was the Lion.
Julie was the Cyclone.
Michel was a scarecrow and Julie was a munchkin.
Carissa and Joel were both munchkins.
Their sweet dog, Leo, was Toto, for the evening.
He was perfect.  I got to carry/walk him around all evening!!
Jonathan and Tammy represent The Poppy Field
Justin was a scarecrow and Johanna was an Emerald City person.
Jenny was Auntie Em and Tim was the Wizard.
Courtney was The Good Witch and Paxton was a flying monkey.
The only character we didn't have was The Bad Witch, but it was okay because......

"Ding Dong The Witch Is Dead."

We had a "Ding Dong" walk for our game.  The children had to follow the yellow brick road,
and if they landed on the witch, they got a Ding Dong!!

The kids loved it!!

We had a blast and can't wait to do it all over again next year.
But until then.....
"There's no place like home!!"

married life

Saturday night we went to an event at our church called "Married Life: Big Night Out".

We were served a yummy dinner, listened to a great speaker and even got to take our picture in a photo booth!!

I thought I would share one of the "very important" things we learned at the event!
There were definitely some serious lessons learned, but we sure thought this one was funny!!

cvs shopping trip: week 3

Here's what I snagged this week at CVS....
I got all of this for $5.72!! Plus I got 2.99EB to spend next week!

This took me 8 different transactions.

I would have spent $67.77 without coupons, sales, and Extra Bucks!

That's a savings of $62.05!!

pumpkin cake

Happy Fall ya'll!! Isn't this fall weather just fabulous??

Matt's favorite recipe in the fall is pumpkin cake.
I make it all year round, but it just tastes better in the fall!!  We like to warm it up with a little butter on top for breakfast in the morning!!

Here's what you'll need....
4 eggs, beaten

3 cups sugar

1 cup corn oil

1-lb. can pumpkin

3 1/2 cups flour

1 tsp. baking powder

2 tsp. soda

2 tsp. salt

1/2 tsp. ground cloves

1 tsp. cinnamon

1 tsp. nutmeg

1 tsp. allspice

2/3 cup water

You'll spend a pretty penny on these three spices, but trust me it's totally worth it!!
Beat the eggs, sugar, oil and pumpkin together.  Mix all dry ingredients together and add to the first mixture.  Also stir in the 2/3 cup of water.  Beat well.  Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour.
I bake this in a bundt pan sprayed with Pam and it turns out perfect!!

Enjoy!!

yay rangers!!

I'm so glad that the Rangers won this series!!

I'm pretty sure my husband would have been depressed for a week if they didn't win.

Too bad they didn't win whenever we were there though.

Oh well, I'm just glad they won.

BTHO the Yankees!!

happy you & me day

That's how I think of it.
Today doesn't belong to family
or friends or jobs
or anything that can't fit inside the circle
of our arms around each other.
Today belongs to you & me.
Happy You & Me Day!!

We didn't do gifts for our anniversary because we "gave" each other new iPhones last month.  We did celebrated tonight though with a delicious dinner at Outback Steakhouse.

And because I love a good deal, I have to tell you that our ticket was only $12!!  I had a $25 giftcard from a student from last year and I joined their rewards program online to receive a free appetizer.  We got a $40 meal for only $12!!  Love it!!

happy 2nd anniversary

Happy Anniversary Babe!!

worst sports weekend ever: part 2

This morning, Matt and I got all ready for church, and just as we got to church we got a phone call from some of our friends.  They had extra tickets to the Rangers playoff game and wanted to know if we wanted to go with them.  Of course we had to say yes.  We quickly did our duty in our Sunday School class, and slipped out early to go change clothes.

Traffic was awful.  There was a Rangers game at noon and the Cowboys played at 3:15.  We got to the ballpark on time, but parking was a nightmare.  We finally made it into the ballpark during the bottom of the 1st inning.

We had great seats.
We were on the 6th row of the bleachers in center field.
We were so close to Mr. Hamilton.  He could definitely hear us cheering for him!!
We were also super close to the Bull Pen.  We got to see CJ Wilson do his Bull Pen session.  Man, they can pitch fast!! It looks so much faster when you are right there by it.
It was really hot for the first few innings.
I soaked Matt in sunscreen and made him keep his Rangers towel on his neck, since he was so burnt from the Baylor game.  Thankfully we got some nice shade and a breeze from the 5th inning on.
We were really hoping to be apart of history to see the Rangers win their first series ever, but it didn't work out that way.  Hopefully they will win this series on Tuesday.
Thanks David and Michelle for thinking of us!! We had a blast at the game even though we lost.  :(
So the Bears, the Aggies, the Rangers, and the Cowboys all lost in Dallas this weekend.

Worst. Sports. Weekend. Ever.
