calling all mommies: boy clothes

This week's topic is.....

BOY CLOTHES
So we all know that it's not hard to find cute things for little girls to wear. There are definitely cute things for little boys to wear, I think you just have to look harder for them.

So......

Where do you shop for your little boy?
Where do you find good deals on clothes?
Do you have any favorite Etsy shops?

  1. My mom loves the Gap outlet at the Allen Outlet Mall. She bought my nephews some oh so cute clothes for Christmas. She said the prices were really good and they look like little men clothes. I love the look!

  2. Carter's! The outlets are awesome. Marshall's/TJ Maxx sells Polo rompers for fairly cheap too, & I love those - one piece outfit that looks adorable!

  3. Don't have a boy, so haven't paid specific attention to boy's stuff. But, deals are definitely in my area. If you don't mind gently used, try consignment stores and sales: Kid2Kid, Once Upon A Child, Divine Consign (twice a year at the Plano Center), and Just Between Friends (twice a year at various locations but closest is McKinney and it's in a week). Most of the bi-annual consignment sales have a deal for first time moms to get in free so be sure to register online before you go. Recently I picked up some cute stuff on clearance at JCPenney so that's another idea. However, I really haven't had to buy much clothing - I got lots of hand me downs from friends and I got tons for gifts. I didn't even bother registering for any clothing items because I heard that people will buy you that stuff anyway just because they want to and boy was that ever true! Happy Shopping!

  4. I definietely second Christine.

I've probably bought 80% of Bryson's clothes at consignment store. I LOVE paying $4 for a Polo instead of $30. A lot of times you can even find brand new stuff there, too.

I also love The Children's Place. They have awesome sales. I always cath their end of season sales and everything is $2.99, so I buy a ton of stuff for the next year. We have a basket full for this Summer that I bought at the end of Summer last year.

I'm not a fan of rompers or anything like that for B, but I know there are a lot of great sellers of ETSY. I've only bought a few monogramed bibs and baby onesies for him off of Etsy.

It's really quite amazing how little there is for boy as compared for little girls, but it also kinda simplifies life, too :)

  5. My number one is Gapbaby Outlet. Their stuff is always on 30-40% off and if you keep your reciept you can do a survey for additional 15% off your next purchase. I also love Gymboree, I don't go there as much anymore, I liked it more for when he was an infant. I don't think Etsy has that much for boys, girls on the other hand is a different story, Olivia is going to be so spoiled. Macys Greendog brand is so cheap and they have really cute stuff that looks like polo. Their polo shirts are like $7. Marshalls always has good Polo brand clothes for a good price.

  6. I like reading everyone else's responses! I recommend avoiding the girls sections in all stores because it will only tempt you to put Pearson in frills and bows.... I like mini man clothes more than the themed items with trucks, tools and cars. Gap is great for that! You can occasionally find great deals and sales. I've bought a few plain onsies and outfits from American Apparel, of course, on sale. H&M and Zara are two other places I've loved that I didn't know sold baby clothes. I definitely recommend shopping ahead of seasons, since sale and clearance racks usually have 'last season' clothes.

  7. Ok, so let my preface this by saying I am a clothes snob. Especially when it comes to Stone. I hate buying what everyone else is wearing, and I am not crazy about character-themed clothes (so I avoid Target, Children's Place, JCP, etc - except for PJs!) So like everyone else said, BabyGap is the best place for boys clothes (at least for my taste). But I also love Crazy 8 and the less cheezy stuff at Gymboree. You can also find some really cute stuff on ebay. Like search "6-12 month Gap Boy" and you can hit a whole lot of cute stuff. Of course, the JBF sale is awesome too, but be specific on the tag and only buy top notch stuff that will last through resale.

My favorite etsy-ish store for Stone is sheshemade.com Right now, they don't have hardly anything on there because she just sold her house and is in the middle of a move, and they are 3-6 weeks out on order due to the craziness of easter orders, but her stuff is soo cute. Kelly's Korner buys all her girlie stuff there and they have adorable things for boys too. You can follow her on twitter (sheshesweetie). She posts some awesome deals and sales on there.

Anyway, thats my two cents. Take it or leave it!

I love Old Navy and Kohl's for Logan. They have good stuff that doesn't look too babyish for a boy. Their boys shorts are awesome. Shoes are a different story - they are so expensive. I've bought Kohls shoes on sale and they wear really good, or go to Payless during BOGO 50% off and do that for Logan.

  10. OK, so I was very into clothes with Carter, but we really couldn't afford a lot, so my advice. Buy off season clearance. For example, since you are having Pearson in the summer, then he'll be in 6-9 months clothing around Christmas (winter), so see if you can find clearance items at big department stores (JCP, Dillard's, Macy), then during the winter, buy summer clothes for 12 months and 2T (for the next summer). I'm definitely a planner. So it was great to not have to buy clothes when he outgrew things, I always had them :)

  11. As you know, I don't have any kids yet, but I do have a niece and nephew that I love to spoil! My favorite places are consignment stores and so far Kid2Kid is my favorite just because they have a big selection and the store has a great layout! Somebody else mentioned that store as well. I just went there last week, and bought 5 full outfits for both of them (shirts w/coordinating bottoms) and I spent a little less than $30! It would have been less but I did go over my price point for an outfit for my niece that was just way too cute. Anyways, my price point for a consignment shop is always $3.99 and it has to be more than just one piece. If it's just one piece (like a romper) my price point goes down to $2.99!

  12. I found some ideas on another Blog. Check out EBay and search for the following brands: Bailey's Boys, Castles and Crowns, Peaches 'n Cream, Petit Ami, and Potato Saks...too cute.

And I second KidtoKid. You can find some really cute clothes there for nothing...

  13. I, too, am a big fan of baby gap, especially the outlet. With Laurel- I'll shop around and get her clothes at a few different places but with Micah, I still do primarily gap. The stuff isn't themey like Gina said. It is more tops and bottoms that you can mix and match easily. I used to try to buy ahead and shop clearance but I had to stop doing that because Micah was so big, by the time we'd get to those clothes, he would've already outgrown them.
