a relaxing weekend

Ahhhh this weekend was just was just what we needed.
We had absolutely no plan on Friday or Saturday and I couldn't have been happier about that.
It seems like the last few weekends we have been going and doing all weekend long.
And it looks like the next few weekends are pretty busy for us too, so I'm glad we got to rest a little this weekend!

We started off Friday with a fun little meal. I made Shrimp & Grits.
It was sooooo good!!
 It was such a beautiful night, so we spent a good hour after dinner playing outside.  I'll just spare you the details of the massive meltdown Pearson had when we had to come back inside.  Not pretty.
 Goodness......they are so good looking!  How did I get so lucky??
I just love watching my boys together.

 On Saturday Pearson spent the morning watching Daddy mow.  I know Matt can't for the day that Pearson can get out there and help him.  Yard work help......one of the perks of having a boy!!
 We also busted out the water table on Saturday.  My sister in law gave it to us last year during the summer, but it was too hot to even play with it at 8am in the morning.  We tried to play with it again when the weather cooled down in the fall, but he wasn't really that interested.  He must be the perfect age for it now because he played with it on Saturday for almost an hour!!
Last night, we had one of my favorite MOPS events of the year.  My sweet Titus Mom (mentor mom) hosted a MOPS Date Night.  Their house is beautiful is Ms. Gayle and her husband are so hospitable.
The event planning girls did an amazing job planning this Mexican Fiesta Date Night full of wonderful fellowship, awesome decorations, yummy food and even a fun photo booth!
We absolutely adore our little guy, but it sure was nice to drop him off at the church from 5-8 while we got to eat a nice meal with friends!!
I met Kara last year at this exact same table!! I was so good to sit with her and her husband again this year, especially since they will be moving soon.  :(
We also sat with a sweet couple from our ABF.  Jennie is another SAHM in our ABF so it's been fun to get to be in MOPS with her this year.
Such a fun night!!  I'll be sad when MOPS is over for the year in month.  I seriously look forward to MOPS Mondays every (other) week!!
And the best part to our weekend was that we just booked a vacation to celebrate our 5 year anniversary!!  Yipee!! I can't wait to have a week away with my hubby!!

weekend recap

We had such a wonderful weekend this past weekend.  We started off our Friday Night with Parent's Night Out.  Matt and I normally go on a date for PNO, but this our ABF had a kid-free game night at The Gooding's house!  We had a blast with our ABF.
We played a game called Mexican Scramble.  It was so fun!! It was kind of a cross between Spades, Hearts, & Bunco.  You play the game in partners, but it's kind of an individual game.  Just a little confusing, huh?  It was a bit confusing, but it was so fun.  Our brains were definitely hurting when we were finished because the rules are constantly changing in this game.
 {The Hutchisons & The Goodings & Our Scorekeeper, Anna}
 {The Cooks & The Howards}
 {Us & The Hanks}
 {The Ogles & The Kennedys}
 Sadly Matt and I didn't win.  Even though we didn't win, it was so nice to drop all of our babies off at the church and enjoy some uninterrupted time with our friends.  And speaking of friends, great mind think alike, because Carissa and I were twinkies in our chambray shirts.
We didn't get home from our game night until 10:30pm so Pearson stayed up way past his bedtime.  We were hoping that he would sleep in really late but he woke up around 8am.  We had lots of errands to run so we got out shortly after breakfast.  We stopped by to see P's cousin's and pick up our Girl Scout Cookies from our favorite little Girl Scout, Ellie!! We bought 5 boxes of cookies and we may or may not have devoured 2 of those boxes already!!
 After lots of errands and some shopping we met Grammy & Grandaddy for some lunch at Rudy's.
We only live an hour away from them, but we don't get to see them near as much as we would like too.  I'm so glad we were able to meet up with them for lunch.  Pearson sure loved seeing his Grammy & Grandaddy.  Grammy showed him how to put his applesauce lid on the straw and he had a ball playing a little balancing game.
 After a late night on Friday and a long morning on Saturday, he crashed on the way home and slept on me until I transferred him to his crib.
Sunday night after church we got together with our Small Group for dinner.  I didn't take a single pictures.  I have gotten terrible at taking pictures lately.  I don't ever use my big camera anymore, which is why this entire post is iPhone pictures.  I have got to get it out more because yesterday afternoon when the weather was so pretty I snapped this picture (with my big camera) of Pearson running around in our yard.  I can actually get picture of him moving with my big camera.
Now if only we could get the weather to warm up and stay warm so we could have some more afternoons playing in the yard or going to the park!!

weekend wrap-up

I wasn't around here on my blog this weekend, but I've found a new love for Instagram in the last few weeks so that's where I've been on a daily basis.  My new iPhone 5 takes even better pics than my old phone so I'm lovin' getting lots of fun pictures of our everyday life without having to haul around my giant DSLR.  So if you ever want to catch me on Instagram you can follow me @katylink.

We started off our weekend with a sick Daddy on Friday.  Me and P spent lots of time together playing on Friday while I took care of Matt.  We even had a little FaceTime with Pearson's cousin's to wish Aunt Ashley a Happy Birthday!!
Pearson loves his new toy that Nonnie gave him for Christmas.  He could race these cars forever.
While Matt continued to rest I know this probably isn't the best thing for my toddler to be playing with (so don't judge), but he found this pill box (that doesn't have any pills in it) and was entertained with it for a good long while!!  He loved opening up and closing each of the lids.
I've determined that our little guy is definitely left handed.  He always does things with his left hand.  If I give him a writing utensil, I always give it to his right hand and he always switches to his left hand.  I'm pretty sure Matt is thrilled to have a little lefty for sports reasons.
 Pearson always surprises me with what he eats.  I made Chicken Caesar Pasta for me and Matt for dinner.  I just gave him some of the chicken, some plain pasta with parmesan on it, and some Edamame.  He would not touch his pasta and all he wanted was the Caesar Salad off my plate!! He loved it.
 Last night we had a dinner party with our Small Group.  The other three girls that have babies brought theirs because they are 2, 4, and 6 months old.  We left crazy busy Pearson home with a babysitter! The girls wondered why I didn't bring Pearson and I just said, "You'll understand when you have an 18 month old!" None of their babies move yet!!
 One of the little girls that I babysat when I was a teenager babysat Pearson while we were gone! Crazy!! He had such a fun time with her.  When we got home he looked at me and Matt then went right back to Amy and asked her to pick him up.  I think he made a new friend with Miss Amy!
 And even though I didn't go back to work today, I'm still working on getting back into the swing of things.  Over the "Christmas Break", I kind of slacked on my chores, stayed up too late, and slept in a little too much.  This week I will be working on getting back into our normal routine!!

Happy Monday, y'all!!

this weekend......

We had such a busy weekend!!  I didn't have a spare moment to sit at the computer this weekend, so the blog has been pretty quiet the last few days!!

We started off our weekend by meeting this little guy.  Parker is the newest little guy in our ABF at church.  He's a healthy little guy weighing in at 9 pounds.  I just love his little cheeks and the little rolls he already has!! Pearson's newest work is "gah-ker" (cracker), so we we asked if he wanted to go meet Parker he said, "gah-ker".  So for now, Parker is a cracker to Pearson!!

After meeting Parker, we dropped Pearson off at the church for Parent's Night Out.  Our church does an amazing thing on the first Friday of every month.  For only $11 ($20 for 2 kids, and I think $25 for 3 o more) you can drop your kid of at the church for childcare from 6:30-10:30 so you can go on a date with your spouse!!  We were given a certificate for my birthday from our Preschool minister, so we put it to use and went on a date to Saltgrass!! We even had a gift card to Saltgrass so we had a really nice cheap date!!
 Saturday morning we got up early and had family picture done!!  Our photographer posted these two sneak peeks!
I'm in love!!  I can't wait to see the rest!! I'll have to keep the rest in hiding because we are going to use these pictures for our Christmas Cards!!
 We were planning on having a relaxing day at home on Saturday, but a friend from church had two free tickets to the Baylor football game in Waco.  I swiped them up because my hubby is a die hard BU fan.  When we got into Waco, we ate lunch at Health Camp.  We also got a Orange Dreamsicle shake and it was the best shake I had ever had in my life!!
I was going to be crazy and take Pearson to the game with us, but luckily I got out of it last minute!! Our good friends, The Hoopers, just moved away from Dallas but were also in Waco for the day.  Jonathan ended up going to the game while I hung out with Tammy at Chelsea's house.  Tammy is friends with Chelsea in real life, so she introduced me to Chelsea's blog.  We read each other's blogs, so we are "blog friends" but we had never actually met.  It was so nice to be at someone's house that was set up for a toddler.  She has a little 15 month old, so Pearson had a ball swinging in her swing and playing with all of her toys.

I'm sad Carter was with her grandparents for the day because I think Pearson and Carter would have had a ball together.

Thank you SO SO SO much Chelsea for letting us invade your house for the afternoon. Especially even after you left!!  You are so sweet!!

While Tammy, Pearson and I were playing and catching up on life Matt and Jonathan were enjoying the game with some pretty close seats!!
 I am SO thankful that Pearson and I ended up not going because after half time there was a lightning delay and it sprinkled for a little while.  Lots of people left so Matt and Jonathan upgraded their seats to the 50 yard line!!
 After the game we had Ninfa's for dinner and then headed home.  We had such a great day in Waco.  It was so good to have an unexpected day of fun with The Hoopers!!
