We took Pearson to the doctor this morning for his 1 year check-up. I was glad Matt got to come because Pearson had to get 4 shots and I just hate having to hold him down for those.
Pearson also had to get his toe pricked for a hemoglobin test. Apparently he is borderline anemic. You are considered anemic if your levels are 11.2 and his were 11.4. He's not anemic, but the doctor said to really make sure I'm giving him a lot of Iron in his diet. They will re-check him again at his 15 month appointment.
Other than that, we have a big healthy boy!!
I'm am so thankful that we had no real illnesses in Pearson's first year of life. We a little sinus infection and a cough, but no fevers or any crazy things. Praise the Lord!!
Pearson's One Year Stats:
Weight: 21 pounds 7 ounces (25th percentile)
Length: 30.5 inches (75th percentile)
Head Circumference: 18.5 inches (50th percentile)

For the low iron...we haven't had Madelyn's iron tested b/c I refuse to take her to LabCorp (they won't do it in the Pediatrician's office for some reason) so we just give her a liquid vitamin that has 100% of her daily iron. It is by Enfamil and we just put it in her cup of milk at bedtime to make sure she drinks it all. You might try that, as I know it is so hard to get them to eat plenty of iron rich foods!
I was going to suggest the same thing. It is called Paravisol. We found out Lucas was anemic at 8 mos. His Hemoglobin was 8.5 and with it came a heart murmur. Thank Goodness after 8 weeks of the multivitamin and twice daily iron supplements his count is back up to almost 12. I definitely started giving Lucas Spinach which he really seems to like. Good Luck!
