home tour tuesday {misc. spaces}

I missed my last Home Tour Tuesday with the craziness of Dad's wreck and stroke, but I still wanted to finish this series so I could have our first home all documented.

Here is our hall bath/kid's bath.  Since our house only had two bathrooms, I wanted to have it decorated more like a hall bath rather than a kid's bathroom since it was used by more than just the kids.
 My Mom made the beautiful valance for the shower.  It really added so much to have a valence along with the shower curtain.
 The previous owners painted the walls and the ceiling.  It's not exactly what I would have picked but I didn't want to have to repaint the ceiling so we just went with it.
This is the view when you come in the front door.  The door on the left is the door to the linen closet which is where I kept my stockpile from couponing!
Also on the left was the boys rooms and the bathroom.  Pearson's room was on the left and Nash's was on the right.
Here is my little entry hall table.  I got this off Craigslist for $50.  It was such a good buy because it was nice to have a piece of furniture that provided extra storage for our little house.
On the opposite side of the wall was my favorite parts of our house……my big black and white gallery wall.
 Here is a view looking from the living room into the entry hall.
This is a little nook in the hallway between the entry hall and the master bedroom.  This changed over the years.  For a while it had a trunk with our blankets, then a train table for Pearson, then my little black desk and last as a play area for the boys.  It was so nice to have a piece of furniture that looked nice but held toys.  This piece of furniture was originally in Pearson's room, but there wasn't enough room for it when we converted his crib into a full size bed.
 A closer look at the decorations……..

Our back patio was such a nice little place.  We didn't use it near as much as we should have, but when we did, we really enjoyed it.  We had a beautiful view of the pond behind out house.

There was  nice covered patio where we kept a couple of chair, our hammock and Nash's swing.
 About a year ago I bought this cute little picnic table for the boys. It was pink and I painted it grey. I just love the way it turned out.
 The rest of our deck had a pergola on top of it and in the spring our wisteria bloomed and gave us awesome shade.  The roots around the poles were just absolutely amazing to look at.  It was just so crazy to see how the twisted and turned and grabbed on to the poles.
 The last room of our house was our laundry room, but I forgot to take pictures of it before we moved.  It wasn't anything special.  It was just a walk through laundry room.  My laundry room in our new house is much more impressive because it's actually a room!!

We only have two rooms in the house completely decorated.  It will probably be a while before I get this house exactly the way I want it, but when I do, I will be doing a Home Tour Tuesday 2nd Edition!!

home tour tuesday {master bedroom}

We finally have internet at our new home so I can continue my Home Tour of our now old home.

Welcome to our Master Bedroom!
Our bedroom sat just right off the living room.
On my side of the bed I had a mirror that opens up to a jewelry box.
On Matt's side of the bed he had a little desk that housed our printer.
The furniture in our room was the first purchase we made for our house.  We loved it because it was big and oversized, but we didn't really realize how big it was until we got it in our house. It's HUGE!!
We love our tall dresser because it gives us so much great storage.
There wasn't even really enough room for the amoire, but we squeezed it in the corner!!
I didn't get a good picture of it, but the window seat in our kitchen had a great view of our backyard and the pond.
In between our bedroom door and our bathroom door we have a little bookshelf that holds our phone, baby monitor and toys for the boys when they come in our room in the mornings.
Our master bathroom was nice and cozy. We both had our own sink but no extra counter space.  Matt was always complaining about my stuff being on his side!!
All my window treatments in my house were made by my Mom including this one.
Our bathtub in our house literally got used twice in the six and a half years we lived there.
And here's our toilet…..ha!!
I forgot to take a picture of our closet, but it was nothing special, just a long skinny closet where Matt's side was taking over my side. His side was always cleaner than my side!!

I think I will have one more week of my Home Tour Tuesday.  It will be a tour of all the miscellaneous places in our house…..the boy's bathroom, entry hall, laundry room, and patio.

See ya next week!!

home tour tuesday {living room}

Wow! It's crazy looking at these pictures because this is absolutely not what our living room looks like right now.  Everything is off the walls, and our living room is full of boxes.  Thank goodness for packers!! I don't know when I would have been able to pack all of our stuff.

I thought about taking out the toys that are in our living room to make these pictures prettier, but then it wouldn't be out living room.  That's just the way it is in our little house.  We don't have a playroom so our living room is our playroom!!

It's full of toys, but lots of sweet memories too!!
 I love how I was able to tie the red in our kitchen into our living room with this little nook over the mantle.
 This couch was our first furniture purchase.  I was so excited about having a sectional but after 7 years with it, I'm ready for something new.  It will be moving with us to Tyler but I hope to replace it at some point.
One thing I love about our living room is how it opens up to our kitchen.  I love how I can be doing the dishes while Matt watches TV and the boys play and we are practically all in the same room.
 The absolute best part of our living room though is the view.  Right outside our living room is a beautiful pergola with wisteria growing all over it looking on to a land full of ducks.
 Even though we will be in Tyler next Tuesday, I'll still be going through our house and finishing up our home tour.  Check back next week for a peek into our Master Bedroom.

Home Tour Tuesday {the kitchen}

Welcome to our kitchen!
When we first bought our house in 2008, one of things that really sold me was the kitchen.  I loved the red walls.  I just saw so much potential in the kitchen.  When we first bought it, it didn't have any hardware on the cabinets, all white appliance and white formica countertops.
We put the hardware on the cabinets immediately after we moved in, then I used all my summer school money from my first summer of teaching to put in granite countertops.  The next summer we put in stainless steel appliances.
The door on the right goes out to our covered patio.  I love how our kitchen overlooks our living room so I can always feel like I'm with the boys while their playing and I'm cooking or cleaning up dinner.
Another thing I love about our kitchen is the large dining area.  We don't have a formal dining room so it's nice that we have a big eating area.  The door on the right goes to our walk-through laundry room to the garage.
 I used to have a little desk in this corner, but I found this hall tree off a garage sale site for $90 and then painted it with Annie Sloan paint.  I just love how it adds a little pop of color to my kitchen.  I also painted Pearson little chair (also a garage sale site find for only $3) to match.
 I thought about taking all of Pearson's artwork off the fridge for these pictures, but I decided to leave them up because his art is just part of our kitchen.  There's always something up there!! The door on the left goes into my amazing pantry! And the arch on the right goes into the hallway to the front door and the boys room.
This picture doesn't really even do my pantry justice.  It's so nice and big.  I'm really going to miss it.  The one in our new house isn't quite this big, but I do have more cabinets so works out!
Matt gave me the pot rack for Christmas.  It was so nice to be able to take all of my pots and pans out of the cabinets and clear space for other things.  When we put the granite countertops in, we also added the overhang on the island so we could have a place to sit in the kitchen.
Join me next week for a tour of our Living Room.

Home Tour Tuesday {nash's room}

Like I mentioned last week, my boy's rooms are my absolute favorite rooms in my house.  It only made sense to show you Nash's room this week in my Home Tour.  Nothing really has changed, except lowering his crib,  since I first blogged about Nash's room when he was first born so these are actually old pictures.  But here's another look at Nash's room!

My favorite part about Nash's room is the bunting hung across the wall when you first walk in.  Matt says it's always like a party in here because of the bunting!
 This chair was seriously the best piece of furniture we have ever bought.  It was so expensive, but it's been so worth it.  I still love sitting in it and rocking my sweet baby boy (when he will let me).
Just like Pearson's room, we won't be changing any decor in Nash's room in our new house. I'm still in love with his room and definitely not ready to change it up.
The only thing I might change is the color of Nash's walls.  You can't really tell in these pictures, but this grey is a little blue and I would like for it to be more grey. Grey is just a hard color to choose.  Any advice on the perfect grey color??
To see more pictures of Nash's room and all the details of where everything came from you can go here to his original room tour!
Check back next Tuesday for a tour of our kitchen!!
