food, family, & fireworks on the 4th

We have been so incredibly busy this summer, (mainly with doctor's appointments) that I just can't quite get caught up with blogging.  I'm going to try really hard to get all caught up this week!!

First up……our 4th of July!!
We went over to Matt's sister's house for their annual 4th of July party.  We look forward to spending time with them each year.  Bryan always smokes the best barbecue, we all have a blast swimming and visiting and of course the fireworks down the road are great!!
Last year we had just announced that we were expecting little Nash so it was fun to have him here with us this year!!  Nash man got to show off his helmet to Grammy & Grandaddy for the first time.  Of course they thought he looked just as cute as ever in it!
My Dad was in NYC for a mission trip so my Mom joined us.
Nash was in heaven getting lovin' from both of his grandmas.  Or maybe I should say the grandma's were in heaven getting lovin' from this sweet smiley boy!!
Pearson took swim lessons during mid-June, but now all of the sudden he wants nothing to do with the pool.
We had to talk him into getting on the steps and then he was totally content to just sit there with Daddy.
Once we finally got him in the pool, he held on to Matt with a death grip.
After swimming around on Daddy's back fro a while he finally warmed up to the pool and had a little fun……..until he fell in the hot tub and my father in law had to jump in (with his clothes) on and get him.
Ahhhhh….now he's even more afraid of the pool.  We have gone two times since the accident and he wouldn't even get in the pool with his puddle jumper on.
Little brother swam for a little bit, but the water was still a little chilly so he didn't last long.
His little time in the pool wore him out so Grammy got some good snuggles out of him.
And it didn't take long before he just crashed.
It's so crazy having a baby that will sleep anywhere.  Pearson would have NEVER done this.
Once our kids were out of the pool, Matt joined all of the other kids in a friendly game of water basketball.  He's just like a big kid sometimes!!!
After a delicious BBQ dinner and way too many desserts, we all headed down the street to watch the McKinney Red, White & BOOM fireworks show.  Pearson LOVED the fireworks last year, but this year he wasn't quite sure about him.  He's going through a little scaredy cat phase right now, so I wasn't really surprised.
It's always a good time when food, family and fireworks are involved, so this was definitely a fun night!!  Happy 4th of July!!

pearson {3 yrs 1 month}

  • You fell in the pool at Nicole & Bryan's and shook you up pretty bad.  Thankfully Grandaddy was close by and jumped in to get you (with his clothes on). You used to love the pool but you have been pretty anti-swimming lately.
  • You call your swim suit a "swim soup".
  • When it's sprinkling outside you say it's "sparkling".
  • You have started telling us about the Poke Guys.  We aren't totally sure how you came up with them but they are apparently scary and always in your room.
  • Something happened the day you turned 3 and you have been so disobedient and defiant.
  • You HATE nap time but always fall asleep and still sleep for a solid 3 hours.
  • You will always agree to take 3 bites of food because you are 3 if it's something you don't want.
  • I love to watch So You Think You Can Dance and you love to watch it with me.  You call it the Cue Music Show since Nigel always says Cue Music!
  • You love to dance and have some pretty good moves.  You can really feel the beat.
  • You are starting to tell time digital.
  • You love birthday parties!!! The cake is always your favorite.
  • I took you to the movies to see Turbo and you did great!
  • Toast with beans in it is cinnamon raisin toast.
  • Everything has to come from a store. Chicken is from the chicken store.  Shoes are from the shoe store.  Phones are from the phone store, etc.

pearson's 3rd birthday

How is this possible???

I can't believe my first baby is THREE years old.
We spent the day doing all of his favorite things.

We started off the morning with donuts for breakfast!!

That is one proud 3 year old.
Nash took a morning nap while Pearson and I played with some of his new toys from his party, then we were off to swim lessons at 10am.  He wasn't super thrilled about them, but afterwards he said he wanted to go back.
After we ran a couple of errands, we headed to Chick-A-Way (as Pearsons says) to meet Daddy for lunch.
After a nice long nap (since he was worn out from swim lessons and playing at CFA) we met my parents at Taco Bueno for dinner…….birthday boy's choice!
This kid could live on Taco Bueno.  I swear he eats more than I do there.
I happen to have a 50% off coupon so we got to eat for super cheap!!
It was finally times for presents when we got home.  We gave him a set of legos and a new outfit.  Lolly & Pops also gave him a set of legos and a fun velcro ball set.  Nonnie gave him a beach towel and legos as well.
One lucky birthday boy!!
If you asked Pearson what he wanted for his birthday, he told me "legos" every single time, so I'm pretty sure he was a happy camper with three new sets of legos.
We had a blast celebrating our big 3 year old all day!!
Happy Birthday Big Boy!!

father's day weekend 2014

The day before Father's Day Matt's parents came to visit us.  Matt grilled some delicious chicken and we made chicken club sandwiches, with baked beans and chips.  They boys loved having their grandparents here.  We hadn't seen them since Mother's Day weekend when we visited them.
Since Pearson's birthday was on Monday they also brought his birthday present.  He was so excited to open it!!
They got him an awesome little truck that comes with a toolset to put it together and take it apart.
This is totally up Pearson's alley because he loves trucks and loves tools.
These boys love their Grammy.
I can't believe we actually got a shot with both kids looking!!
I just love this picture of Grammy & Grandaddy oooohing and ahhhhing over Nash!
On Sunday, we got to celebrate Matt.  He is such a great Daddy to the boys.  I am a lucky girl to get to have him as my partner in parenthood.
All week I kept asking Pearson what he wanted to get Matt for Father's Day.  Over and over he kept telling me Oatmeal and a Sandwich.  These happen to be his two favorite food right now, so I thought maybe he kept saying that because I was asking him at meal times.  But then I would ask him at other times and he would quickly respond with "Oatmeal and a Sandwich".  We got him some grilling tools but then we stopped at Potbelly to get him a "sandwich" gift card and a bag of mini "oatmeal" cookies. That was the best spin I could put on Pearson's idea of Oatmeal and a Sandwich.
After naps we took a family trip to the pool.
My Dad had been out of town for over 10 days so he and my Mom stopped by the pool so we could wish him a Happy Father's Day and so he could see the boys.
Pearson has decided he isn't really a fan of the pool so Matt stayed with him the majority of the time while I hung out with this little cutie in the shade.
We had such a wonderful weekend with all the great men in our life.
The boys are so blessed to have Daddy, Pops, & Grandaddy.
