Dear Sweet Pearson-
This month has flown by. I can't believe you are already 5 months. This month has been so rewarding, as you really started doing new things each week!!
Oh my goodness Pearson, could you be any cuter?
We seriously look at you everyday and just can't get over your cuteness. Your chubby cheeks, your beautiful blue eyes, you little thigh rolls, you little dimple on your right cheek....oh and those finger dimples are just too much to handle.
You have been giving your smiles out more freely this month. You smile for me or Daddy all the time and have really started smiling at anyone who smiles at you. You have started this new thing where if I'm holding you and someone smiles at you, you smile then act shy and hide your face behind my arm. It is precious!!
Just last week you giggled for the first time. Oh goodness.....it was the cutest thing ever. I could listen to your sweet giggle all day long. I'm SO glad I caught it on tape so Daddy could experience it too. It's time like that, that really make me happy that I'm able to stay at home with you so I don't have to miss thing!!
I still think you are really working on getting some teeth. We just recently gave you your Sophie the Giraffe toy and you love chewing on it. You love chewing on my fingers and you put everything in your mouth. Drool is constantly coming out. I wonder when we will see your first pearly white??
You have been totally of with your sleeping habits this month. We used to could lay you in the crib and you were asleep almost instantly, but now it seems like it take you 5-10 minutes or so and alot of times you kind of moan yourself to sleep. You have also been waking up 2-3 times a night. I never have to nurse you but I have to move you if you are in a funky position, give you your paci or just pat you bottom. A few times I have even had to take you out of your crib and rock you back to sleep. I'm not really sure why you haven't been sleeping that great because there are so many factors that could be affecting your sleep. It couldn't have been because of your 4 month shots, the fact that you might be teething, you might be having a 4 month growth spurt, the time change, we quit swaddling you this month and just recently you have had a stuffy nose. Who knows? I'll be glad when you are back to 12 hrs of uninterrupted sleep though.
You have also started rolling back and forth from tummy to back during the night. You mainly prefer sleeping on your tummy, but I sometime find you on your back in the middle of the night. You always go to bed on your tummy and wake up on your tummy.
Ugh...naptime, I've gotten to where it's actually my least favorite part of the day. You will not go to sleep on your own and that drives me crazy. I don't get how you can go to sleep so well on your own at night time but refuse to go to sleep on your own at naptime. It usually takes me 5-10 minutes to bounce/rock you to sleep for naptime and you have to be completely asleep for me to lay you down in the crib. I can seriously set a time for 45 minutes and probably 95% of the time you wake up right on the dot. You rarely take a nap longer than 45 minutes. You typically take a morning nap pretty easily, then you act like you wan to take a mid-day and an afternoon nap but fight them both. I can almost always get you to take two naps, I'm lucky if I can get you down for the third.
We got out your Baby Einstein jumperoo activity seat and you really like it. Somedays you will play contently in it for 30ish minutes. It's so cute to see you play independently.
You still love tummy time. You are so cute to watch when you are on your tummy because you life all fours and just kick away like you are going somewhere. When you are on your tummy you have really started to grab and reach for your toys. I feel like you have really started playing with your toys this month. It's so neat to see you discover new things.
Speaking of discovering new things you have really found your feet. You not only grab at them but you put them in your mouth and it is the cutest thing ever. When I put you on the changing table, you instantly curl into a ball and grab your feet. You just love them!!
Your newest trick is "sitting". I definitely wouldn't consider you a sitter yet, but you are doing really well with the tripod sit. You can sit on your own for a little while but then usually tump to the side. You are so proud of yourself when you realize you are sitting by yourself because you are all smiles. It won't be long before you are an official sitter.
You went on your first real road trip to Austin. You did great on the car ride and have done well since we've been here. Since we are still in Austin, we'll just have to see how our car ride home is. I'm sure it will be just fine since you love being in the car.
You are still on the same schedule as last month and the month before!! I just love our schedule. Somedays it might start a little early, but for the most part we stick to the same schedule each day. I nurse you at 7:30ish, 11ish, 2ish, 5ish and 7ish. You love to go to bed early. It is almost a struggle to keep you up past 7:00.
We still haven't introduced you to any baby food. The doctor said you are doing fine with just breastmilk, so I will probably just wait until after our 6 month appointment to introduce you to solids. I nurse you for almost every feeding. I think I gave you maybe 2 or 3 bottles this month. It's just so much easier for me to nurse you than for me to have to think about packing a bottle, then pumping before or afterwards.
You still love your pacifier, but you definitely prefer your hand during the day. You almost always have some combination of your fingers in your mouth, but never your thumb. It's like you haven't even discovered you thumbs yet. You have to have your pacifier for naps and bedtime though.
Every evening you are a little bit fussy before Daddy gets home, but as soon as he gets home you are all smiles. It is so precious to see you so happy to see your Daddy. You absolutely adore your Daddy and it melts my heart!!
We have started to put you in the bumbo alot lately. Each night for dinner we sit at the bar and you are so happy to watch us eat dinner. You always make the cutest little squeely noises. I think it will be fun for us to all eat at the dinner table together at night.
You haven't started rolling all over the place, but you can roll from tummy to back and back to tummy. You usually only do it when you are mad or when you are in your crib. If we put you on your tummy you are just pretty content and have no desire to roll!
Pearson you are so precious to us!! It is such a joy to be your Mommy!! We love you SO SO SO MUCH sweet boy!!
Love-
Your Mommy
