to my baby boy

To my sweet Pearson Davis Link:
It's your birthday week sweet boy!!

I can't believe that in a week or less you will be in my arms.  I can't even begin to tell you how excited I am to see your sweet face and hold your little fingers and kiss your sweet little toes.  Even though I've had 9 months to let it sink in, I still can't believe that you are about to join our family!!
It seems like just yesterday that I took that pregnancy test and woke up your Daddy at 4am to tell him that we were having a baby.  I know your Daddy was tired when I woke him up but I will never forget the moment that we shared together in the middle of night.
I cried happy tears as I told him that he was going to be a Daddy and then he prayed for our family of three.  It was such a special prayer.  I'm pretty sure Daddy fell back asleep, but I couldn't stop thinking about you.  I definitely didn't go back to sleep that night.

Although you were a little surprise to us, you were no surprise to God.  He obviously had sooner plans for our family to grow than we had "planned".  But I think that is what makes you special.  I know God has a very special plan for you!!

I quickly became very obsessed with being pregnant.
I called the doctor the second they opened to schedule an appointment.  I wrote in my calendar how many weeks I thought I was.  I downloaded an app on my iPhone to track my pregnancy.  And I started reading up on websites and blogs all about pregnancy.  To say I was excited about being pregnant was an understatement.
Although we were super excited to know that we were expecting you, we wanted to keep it a secret from everybody for a little while just to make sure we were in the clear.  At first I thought I would wait until the 2nd trimester, but I just couldn't hold the news in any longer.
We first told your Lolly & Pops and Grammy & GrandDaddy after our first doctors appointment.  We also told our extended family.
Next on our list to tell were church friends & work friends.  We told them all after our first sonogram at 9 1/2 weeks.  It was just so real after we "saw" you and heard your little heart beating.  We couldn't hold it in any longer.  We wanted to tell the whole world about you.  I told each set of people in a fun creative way.  I had so much fun planning out how I was going to tell them about you!!
God totally blessed me and I didn't get sick or nauseous with you once in the beginning.  The only pregnancy symptom I had in the beginning was that I was super tired.  I slept all the time and it was a constant struggle to keep my eyes open at school!! I had always heard that you get sick with girls and not with boys, so I kind of had a feeling that you were a boy from the very beginning.  When we had our first sonogram in November we went ahead and scheduled our sonogram at the end of January to find out if you were a boy or girl.  January 27th felt so far away, but the time really flew by since we had the holidays in between.
When your Daddy and I went to our sonogram the sonographer checked out every single little part of your body before she told us what you were.  She kept us in suspense for what felt like an eternity.  When she told us you were a boy, your Daddy got the biggest smile on his face and I just said "I knew it."
Mommy had a feeling all along.  I know your Daddy would have been happy if you were a girl, but I know he can't wait to play sports with his little man.  We immediately went and bought some boy things for you and then met with your grandparents to tell them the good news.  They were all thrilled!!
The following week your Daddy and I took a "Babymoon" cruise and our goal was to give you a name while we were gone.
We had 3 or 4 names picked out, but we both quickly agreed on Pearson.  Your due date is on your Papaw Bill Davis' (your late great-grandpa) birthday, so we thought it was fitting to have your middle name be Davis.  And we just like how it sounded!!  We had so much fun calling you Pearson all week while we were on the cruise.  We even wrote your name in the sand in Jamaica and took a picture to show Lolly & Pops and Grammy & GrandDaddy when we got home!!
When people ask us what we are naming you, they usually say something like "that's different" or "that's unique".  I love it though.  I love that you have a special, unique name.  It will be just perfect for you!!
My favorite part about carrying you has been all the movement.  It's impossible to forget you are pregnant, but if I could forget, you wouldn't let me.  You have been a mover and a groover since about 20 weeks.  And not only are you a mover, you get the hiccups all the time!!  I felt little flutters around 17/18 weeks, but I felt you really move around 20 weeks while we were on our cruise.  You haven't slowed down since.
Your Daddy got to feel and see you move for the first time around 22 weeks and boy was that neat.  I think it really made it real when he could feel you inside of me.
Even though you only have a few more days left inside of me you are still kicking away!  I love it though, and I think I'm actually going to miss it.  It is truly a reminder that there is a little miracle growing inside of me.

Oh and....speaking of your Daddy.  He's a pretty great guy.  He already loves you so much.
He has taken such good care of us during these past nine months.  He's taken me for lots of sweet treat runs, rubbed my back when it hurts and been the biggest help around the house.  I know that he will do anything for you too.  He has the biggest heart and there's lots of love in it to give to you.  You will quickly learn that your Daddy loves Jesus, he loves me, and he loves sports.  I know he'll be such a good example to you showing you how to love Jesus, love me and others, but  I know he can't wait to put a bat and ball in your hands and get you started playing sports!!
I can't wait to see him hold you for the first time and I can't wait to see the special relationship that you two will have.  You are so lucky to have him as your Daddy.

So as we play the waiting game for the next few days, I'll be anxiously awaiting for you.
I can't wait to see you, look into your sweet eyes, and fall in love with you.  You have been such a good boy in Mommy's tummy and my prayer is that you will be the same kind of boy when you are here with us.  I pray that you will be a sweet easy going baby.  Thanks for letting me carry you and experience the miracle of life.  I can't wait to meet you sweet boy!!

Love,
Your Mommy

That made me tear up a little. Mostly because I too have a sweet little boy, and can't wait for you to experience the joys of motherhood with your little man!
